Big Thief Drop EP of Previously Unreleased Songs to Benefit L.A. Fire Relief Efforts

Their five-track Passional Relations project is available on their official site

Big Thief has released new music in support of L.A. fire relief efforts. The band posted the five-track Passional Relations EP to their official website today, also revealing that the majority of the proceeds will be donated to the Plus1LA Fires Fund, which was created to aid the victims of January’s calamitous wildfires that decimated parts of Los Angeles County.

Four of the EP’s songs were crafted during sessions for Big Thief’s recent Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, with “Zombie Girl” also on band member Adrianne Lenker’s songs album. EP closer “Shadow Too” is a demo from 2018.

“Our hearts are broken for everyone affected by the fires in California,” Big Thief said in a statement. “We’ve put together some of our favorite unreleased songs into an EP called Passional Relations, only available on our webstore, and all proceeds will go toward providing relief for those impacted by the fires in Los Angeles.”

According to Plus1LA’s website, “the Fund will help local nonprofits offering shelter and care to those who have lost their homes, including PPE to prevent smoke inhalation, food, clothing, diapers, formula, hygiene items, and mental health support to help those coping with trauma.” And in time, it aims to help displaced residents rebuild their communities.
