The nominees for 2025’s ceremony were unveiled on Thursday (January 23), with Chinouriri receiving nods for Artist Of The Year and Best New Artist. It follows the release of her debut album ‘What A Devastating Turn Of Events‘ in 2024.

Among those congratulating her was fellow BRIT School alum Adele, who sent the former NME Cover star a bouquet of pink roses alongside a note that read: “Congratulations on your Brit nominations Rachel. I’m so happy for you and can’t wait to come to a show! Lot’s of love, Adele.”

Reacting to the delivery, Chinouriri took to Twitter/X to write: “Help how do I recover from this,” adding: “I’m shaking … violently.”

She continued on Instagram, saying: “I know this stuff is sometimes not a big deal to some other artists, but I think because I went to BRIT School, I remember seeing Adele standing on the stage and she was like, ‘I used to be like you,’ when she was performing.

“And she pointed down to the bit and I was in the pit,” she said. “I remember being like, wow, that’s so cool — I’ll never be able to do that, though.”

It’s not the first time Adele has expressed her admiration for Chinouriri. During a show at her ‘Weekends With Adele’ residency in Las Vegas last year, she told the crowd: “There’s a new artist, she’s British, her name is Rachel and she does like indie music.” She then added: “She’s absolutely amazing, she has a show in L.A. in March and I’m going to go on my own. That’s what I’m gonna do.”

Chinouriri released her debut LP ‘What A Devastating Turn Of Events’ earlier this year. In a four-star review, NME said: ‘What A Devastating Turn Of Events’ – despite its slightly macabre title – is consistently charming, while offering enough range in sound and scope to hint at Chinouriri’s future ambitions. She has worked hard to make it sound this easy.

The record was named one of NME‘s 20 Best Debut Albums of 2024, and came in at Number 10 in our overall 50 Best Albums of 2024 list.

Later this year, Chinouriri will serve as opening support for Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Short N’ Sweet’ UK and European tour. Check out the full dates below and visit here to purchase tickets.

Back in August, the ‘Never Need Me’ singer announced that she had dropped out of the Remi Wolf tour and several festival slots due to the financial strain becoming “too much”.

In other news, the BRIT Awards will take place at The O2 in London on Saturday March 1, and will be broadcast exclusively on ITV1 and ITVX. Comedian and actor Jack Whitehall has been announced as the returning host, making it his fifth time presenting the ceremony after doing so in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

This year, Charli XCX leads the way with the most nominations, receiving nods in five categories including Artist Of The Year, Pop Act and Dance Act. Her collaboration with Billie Eilish, ‘Guess’, is also up for Song Of The Year, while her ‘BRAT’ record – which inspired BRAT Summer – is shortlisted for Mastercard Album Of The Year.
