Sam Fender has shared his rousing new single ‘Arm’s Length’ – check it out below.
The song is the third to be lifted from his new album ‘People Watching’ following the title track and ‘Wild Long Lie’. Fender’s new album is out on February 21 via Polydor (pre-order/pre-save here).
Fender said of the single: “[The song] originally came from one of those magic moments where you’re just messing around, and a song literally falls out of the sky. It’s about being avoidant and flighty. But also, just a simple pop song, which I love.”
‘People Watching’ was produced by Fender alongside his bandmates Dean Thompson and Joe Atkinson, producer Markus Dravs and The War On Drugs’ Adam Granduciel.
He first hinted that he had been working with the latter back in March 2024, sharing footage of them in the studio together alongside producers, engineers and other musicians. Then, in October Fender confirmed that the new album was finished and “mastered”. It will be his first LP since 2021’s sophomore album ‘Seventeen Going Under’.
Last November, Fender announced details of some huge UK stadium shows for this summer.
The shows will kick off with his biggest-ever headline concert at London Stadium on June 6, before continuing in his Newcastle hometown at St. James’ Park on June 12, 14 and 15. For the latter, the musician played that same 52,000-capacity venue back in 2023, and it’ll also see the songwriter break the record for most headline shows at St James’ Park – an honour previously held by The Rolling Stones.

Yesterday (January 23), Fender was nominated for a BRIT Award for Artist Of The Year alongside the likes of Charli XCX and Dua Lipa.
He also recently teamed up with Newcastle United to auction off Carabao Cup shirts, with the funds raised going to charity.
