Justin Bieber appears to be back in the studio

Justin Bieber is reportedly back in the studio after months of rumours he was planning a major comeback.

Over the weekend, the popstar shared a series of photos on Instagram which seemed to confirm he was recording new music after a four-year hiatus.

Alongside pictures shared of his wife Hailey Bieber on a wintery getaway on Saturday (January 18), fans have taken notice of the few that featured Bieber with a mic in hand and wearing headphones.

Based on a 24-second teaser he shared before that, it seems a return could well be in the works. Earlier this week, he posted a brief clip of a demo in which he sang, “I’m takin’ it/ You takin’ bait/ I’m shakin’ it/ You’re shakin’ it/ Shakin’ off the hate,” accompanied by an acoustic guitar.

He had also shared pictures from what looked to be a studio session back in October, which came only weeks after Mk.gee revealed that he had been working with the singer on new material as Bieber “searched” for his next phase.

“He’s searching. Anything that comes out of his mouth: That’s pop music. You can really do pretty wild stuff behind that, just because it represents something,” Mk.gee said at the time.

A new album Bieber would mark his first studio release since 2021’s ‘Justice’.

Since then, he has gone through a high-profile break-up with his former long-time manager Scooter Braun. The two had been working together since 2008 after Braun discovered Bieber through his YouTube channel, but it emerged in 2023 that the singer was “looking at how he might extract himself” from his contract with Braun.

A recent report by Puck News’ Matthew Belloni suggested the ‘Lolly’ singer was looking at touring, speculating that he may be motivated by financial needs.

“I’m told Bieber needs the money and wants to work,” Belloni noted. He cites the cost of the cancellation of the ‘Justice’ World Tour in 2022 and 2023 due to health reasons as a possible factor.

The tour was called off after Bieber revealed his diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in June 2022, which had temporarily paralysed the right side of his face.
