Music Sustainability Summit Postponed Amid Los Angeles Wildfires

The Music Sustainability Alliance announced Friday (Jan. 17) that its Music Sustainability Summit is being postponed amid the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.

Originally scheduled to happen on Feb. 3, the event will now be held on April 16 at L.A.’s Solotech Studios, the same location where it was originally set to take place. Programming for the April event will be announced in the coming months. Those who have registered for the February event will have their registration honored in April.

In lieu of the original event, the Music Sustainability Alliance will host an hour-long virtual forum on Feb. 3 focused on the L.A. wildfires. Registration for the free event is open here. Speakers for the virtual forum will include artists, climate scientists and activists, with names to be announced in the coming weeks.

“We collectively represent a variety of companies and organizations, but we are one industry and we need to present a united front during moments of crisis,” said Amy Morrison, co-founder/CEO of the Los Angeles-based Music Sustainability Alliance. “This is a moment to come together to show the many ways the music industry is responding to this disaster.”

The April event, which will happen between the two weekends of Coachella, will mark the second annual summit. The conference will focus on solutions to climate change’s effects on the music industry and feature peer-learning opportunities, keynote talks, panel discussions, breakout groups and more.

Last year’s inaugural summit was attended by more than 300 workers from across the music industry, with a day’s worth of panels focused on the impact of climate change on their business.
