Snoop Dogg teases involvement in new ‘Like A Dragon’ game ‘Project Century’

Snoop Dogg has teased his involvement in Project Century, a new game from the makers of Like A Dragon and Yakuza.

Project Century was announced at The Game Awards over the weekend. Created by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the action game will be set in 1915 Japan and, based on a short teaser trailer, is a lot more brutal and bloody than the long-running Yakuza series.

The game is said to be a “brand new concept” from the studio, though could also tie into the Like A Dragon universe which is set in the present day.

Project Century doesn’t currently have a release date but it seems that Snoop Dogg might be involved.

Snoop Dogg was also at The Game Awards at the weekend and shortly after the event had wrapped up, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio shared a photo of the rapper wearing an identical replica of a jacket worn by the mysterious protagonist of Project Century. They captioned the image “…yet”.

Earlier in the night, while presenting the award for Best Ongoing Game, Snoop said: “I don’t have a game…yet.”

Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama also shared a photo of him recreating Snoop’s pose alongside the message “Please wait a moment.”

“They finally acknowledged Project Century outside of The Game Awards using SNOOP DOGG?! Never change,” wrote one fan. “I would not be surprised if Snoop Dogg turned out to be the final boss,” said another.

Snoop Dogg wouldn’t be the first celebrity involved in a Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio project either. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth starred Danny Trejo as villain Dwight Méndez and after the game launched, Sega shared a survey asking fans what other collabs they wanted to see. Snoop Dogg was one of the suggestions, alongside the likes of Lady Gaga, Eminem and Billie Eilish.

In other news, fan-favourite min-game Gwent will be making a return in The Witcher 4, say creators.
