Nancy Cartwright has spoken about the huge success of her niece Sabrina Carpenter, and said that she thinks the pop star will go on to become “an EGOT”.
Cartwright, who is famed for her voice acting role in The Simpsons, mused about the other famous face in her family during a new interview, and said that she believes her niece will go on to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award in the years to come.
It comes as she appeared on an episode of Good Morning America on Monday (December 16), just one day ahead of The Simpson’s 2024 holiday special premiering.
During the discussion, Cartwright – who voices Bart Simpson, Ralph Wiggum, Nelson Muntz, Todd Flanders, Kearney Zzyzwicz, Database, and Maggie Simpson in the series – reflected on how Carpenter “knew at age six-years-old that she wanted to work for Disney.”
“That was her dream at age six!” she said when asked about the new wave of success Carpenter has experienced in 2024 (via Billboard). “She has just created her own path.”
While Carpenter has been at her most successful peak yet this year, following her releasing the hugely successful ‘Short N’ Sweet’ album and subsequently kicking off her world tour, she actually made her breakthrough in the entertainment industry back in 2014, when she landed a major role on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World.
The series saw her star opposite Rowan Blanchard, and it ran for three seasons. It was from there that she turned her sights to the music industry and steadily built a career in pop.
Reflecting on her progress in both the music world and as an on-screen actor, Cartwright mused that she believes Carpenter will go on to achieve much more: “I wouldn’t be surprised one day if she’s an EGOT.”
Only time will tell if Carpenter will go on to take home awards at the Emmys, Oscars and Tonys, but for now her odds are looking strong for the hopes of a Grammy. Last month, the nominees for the 2025 instalment were shared, revealing that the ‘Espresso’ star had been given nods in six categories.
These included Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Espresso’, Song of the Year for ‘Please Please Please’ and Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Short n’ Sweet’.
Other accolades she has received since the start of the year include being the only artist of 2024 who had two songs in the Spotify Wrapped Top 10 Most Played list, with ‘Espresso’ in second place and ‘Please Please Please’ in the Number Nine spot.
As well as that, ‘Short N’ Sweet’ was the second most popular album in the UK this year, just behind ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology’ by Taylor Swift, and Carpenter brought out a number of impressive surprise guests as part of her Christmas Netflix special.
Beyond that, her track ‘Bed Chem’ was recently named as one of NME’s Best Songs of 2024, and in 2025, she will bring the ‘Short N’ Sweet’ tour to the UK. Dates include a huge headline slot at BST Hyde Park next summer. Visit here for tickets.
As for Nancy Cartwright news, it was recently revealed that her co-star on The Simpsons, Pamela Hayden, would be retiring. The actor voiced Milhouse and several other characters on the show for almost 700 episodes since the show first began in 1989.
The show’s current 36th season recently kicked off with a fake “series finale”, which saw the return of Conan O’Brien. The series is yet to be renewed for a 37th season, which comes amid speculation about the animated show’s future.
