Sabrina Carpenter has revealed some of the top artists mentioned in her Spotify Wrapped for 2024, and revealed the reason why she “can’t post” the results online.
The 2024 edition of Spotify Wrapped arrived last week and, as ever, allowed users to reflect on their listening habits from the past 12 months in its ‘Celebration Of Your Year’ experience.
Now, Sabrina Carpenter has opened up about the results she got for this year, and revealed that there is one reason why she won’t be sharing the post online: her own name is among her Top Five artists.
Speaking in a new interview with Vogue, the pop star reflected on the milestone accomplishments she’s had since the year began, and discussed her mindset for going into 2025.
At one point, the interviewer asked her if she had taken part in Wrapped for this year, to which she responded: “I did. It’s funny because when I first saw mine, my initial reaction was, ‘Oh, damn, I can’t post that, because I’m on my own [list]. It’s a bit conceited.’”
She continued: “But then I was like, I guess it’s a good thing that I’m on my list and listening to my own music, because it means I fuck with what I do… But the other ones were Dolly Parton, ABBA, Kacey Musgraves, and the Bee Gees.”
Carpenter is far from alone in listening to her own music this year. Upon Wrapped going live last week (December 4), it was revealed that she was the seventh most-played artist in the UK – with Taylor Swift, Drake and Kanye West in the Top Three.
Similarly, she was the only artist of 2024 who had two songs in the Top 10 Most Played list, with ‘Espresso’ in second place and ‘Please Please Please’ in the Number Nine spot. To top it off, her latest album ‘Short N’ Sweet’ was the second most popular album in the UK this year, just behind ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology’ by Taylor Swift.
Elsewhere in the interview with Vogue, Carpenter reflected on what it is like to be finishing the first leg of her huge world tour – which has just wrapped up the 2024 US dates. “Touring is never easy, I’m pretty honest about that, but it was such a gift. This tour has been so much more fun than any other show I’ve ever put on,” she explained.
“It’s so theatrical and it involves the audience, so every night feels different, based off of how the audience is feeling and what they’re giving to me. I was just blown away by the fact that it was my first arena tour, and we sold out every show. That was really overwhelming in such a positive way.”
She is set to bring the ‘Short N’ Sweet’ tour to the UK next year, and the dates include a huge headline slot at BST Hyde Park next summer. Visit here for tickets.
In other Sabrina Carpenter news, her track ‘Bed Chem’ was recently named as one of NME’s Best Songs of 2024, and the singer also shared a one-off holiday special on Netflix titled A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter.
It saw Carpenter playing a range of festive songs, both original and classic, while being joined by an array of stars including Chappell Roan, Tyla, Shania Twain, Kali Uchis, Nico Hiragua, Quinta Brunson, Cara Delevingne, Kyle Mooney, Megan Stalter, Sean Astin, Owen Thiele and Jillian Bell.
