Roddy Ricch says “clout-chasing” YouTuber demanded $50K and Audemars Piguet watch to return Grammy found in storage

Roddy Ricch has claimed that a “clout-chasing” YouTuber who found the rapper’s Grammy demanded $50K and an Audemars Piguet (AP) watch to return the award.

The YouTuber Prieto Hunter recently went viral after sharing a video on his YouTube channel in which he purchased an abandoned storage unit for $280 (£220) at an auction. Inside the unit, Hunter discovered the rapper’s Grammy – which Ricch earned for his performance on ‘Racks in the Middle’ with Nipsey Hussle in 2020.

In the video, Hunter shared that he was willing to “work something out” with ‘The Box’ rapper to get the award back to him. Though the Grammy has been returned to its owner, Ricch has alleged that when his team reached out to the YouTuber, Hunter had allegedly asked for $50,000 and an Audemars Piguet watch. Hunter has denied all of the allegations made against him.

Taking to his official Instagram account for an livestream last night (December 2), Ricch revealed that he had offered Hunter $10,000 and said: “First he asked me for an AP, then he asked me for $50,000. So it was never about ‘Oh, we’re going to do it on just the strength of trying to get it back to you,’ it was more so about a na trying to get clout off it or a na trying to extort me for $50,000.”

He continued, claiming that the YouTuber was much more interested in creating a spectacle over the return of the award. “He showed up with two cops and three n***as with cameras,” Ricch said. He went on to emphasise the significance of the Grammy and how it was an achievement for both him and his community.

Ricch also denied any involvement in any of the threats that Hunter had claimed to have received while they were negotiating a resolution, adding: “I ain’t never sent no threats or none of that type of shit.”

Hunter went on to deny the rapper’s allegations of extortion and wrote in an Instagram comment: “I wish I got offered that but I did not get offered no 10k no nothing I returned it at no cost and I want nothing to do with them not even tickets you guys have no idea what actually went down but I have no more comments”

He then went on to share a video of his side of the story and said: “Yes, I got in contact with Roddy Ricch and his assistant, but no, I’m not asking for $1 million or none of that. All I wanted was a video of me giving it back to him or at least a video of him telling me thank you.

“Clearly, that wasn’t possible. Guys, this has turned into a nightmare for me. Threats to me and my family, pictures of my house. All of my family is getting affected by this.”

He continued: “This is what I do for a living: I post videos of what I find in storage units. All I made was a video of me finding this, and that’s it. Never was it meant to disrespect or anybody.” The Grammy was given to someone on Ricch’s team at a police station.
