Ariana Grande reveals “scary” plan to focus on acting for the next 10 years

Ariana Grande has revealed her “scary” plan to focus on acting for the decade – see what she had to say below.

She continued, prefacing: “I’m going to say something so scary, it’s going to scare the absolute shit out of my fans and everyone.”

“I love them, and they will deal, and we will be here forever. I’m always going to make music. I’m always going to go on stage. I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise. But I don’t think doing it at the rate that I’ve been doing for the past 10 years is where I see the next 10 years.”

Grande went on to explain: “I think I love acting; I love musical theater. Reconnecting with this part of myself… I love comedy, and it heals me to do that — finding roles to use these parts of myself.”

She will soon star in Wicked as Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba in the movie musical, which is directed by In The Heights and Crazy Rich Asians’ Jon M. Chu. Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum also appear, playing Fiyero and the Wizard of Oz respectively.

Elsewhere, Grande recently spoke out in support of Erivo regarding the latter’s criticism of fan-edited Wicked posters and AI content. She also brought together actresses who’ve previously starred in Wicked on Broadway for a special screening of the new film.

Wicked is split into two instalments, with the first arriving in cinemas on November 22 and the second scheduled for release on November 21, 2025.

In a four-star review of Grande’s latest album ‘Eternal Sunshine’, Nick Levine wrote for NME: “Crucially, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ avoids the sonic saminess of Grande’s last album, 2020’s horny but slightly boring ‘Positions’, by including more uptempo cuts… Whatever you take away from it, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ definitely isn’t an album you’ll want to wipe from memory.”
