Doja Cat has been praised by gamers for dressing up like a background character from a cult Nintendo 64 video game for Halloween.
Doja Cat is a proud gamer. She has used her Twitch account to stream puzzle-horror game Little Nightmares and do Beyoncé impressions while playing PowerWash Simulator. Earlier this year, she used X to rant about Fortnite.
This Halloween though, Doja Cat took her love of gaming further by dressing up as the “flower with giant tits from Conker’s Bad Fur Day”, much to the delight of long-suffering Conker fans.
Conker’s Bad Fur Day was released in 2001 for the Nintendo 64 and featured Conker, a greedy, hard-drinking squirrel trying to return home to his girlfriend Berri after a big night out. It looked similar to developer Rare’s more family friendly titles like Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, it was aimed at a more adult audience with South Park-style humour.
Despite a number of positive reviews, Conker’s Bad Fur Day sold poorly due to the N64 approaching the end of its cycle. The Conker: Live & Reloaded remake was released for Xbox in 2005 while the original was included as part of a Xbox One compilation in 2015.
Even with Conker’s Bad Fur Day’s cult following, developers haven’t mentioned the game in close to a decade though. However fans are hoping Doja Cat’s outfit will inspire something new.
99% of her fans have no idea what Conker is or what she’s referencing. Didn’t know Doja got down with the squirrel. https://t.co/4CcpYgIv7f pic.twitter.com/e8HOUJveDu

“Conker raised me (idk who let me play it as a kid),” said one fan on Instagram, while on X, a fan account petitioning for a new Banjo-Kazooie game wrote: “Doja Cat has done more for the Conker’s Bad Fur Day brand in a single night than Rare has in 20 years.”
“This was not the representation I was expecting,” replied one fan. “It’s funny and tragic at the same time,” said another.
Last month, Xbox vice president Aaron Greenberg annoyed fans by claiming that no one cares about Banjo-Kazooie and took to social media to backtrack. “I absolutely know how much Banjo-Kazooie means to our fans and gamers everywhere. It holds a special place in my heart, growing up playing these classic games.”
