Watch Bruce Springsteen Celebrate Halloween With Lively ‘Ghostbusters’ Cover

The singer kicked off his Canadian tour in Montreal on Thursday

Bruce Springsteen ain’t afraid of no ghosts! The Boss got into the spooky spirit of Halloween Thursday night at his concert at Montreal’s Centre Bell. While opening his show with the E Street Band, Springsteen performed a cover of “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr.

Videos from the show capture Springsteen rocking out with his band surrounded by purple lights as he leads a call and response with the song’s chorus: “Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!”

“Ghostbusters” was a massive hit in the mid-Eighties, earning Parker Jr. a nomination for Best Original Song at the Oscars in 1985. When the song reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, Springsteen’s own “Dancing in the Dark” was in the Top 10, where it landed at Number Seven.

Thursday’s show marked the beginning of his run of shows in Canada through late November. During the performance, he continued into his typical setlist, which includes “Lonesome Day,” “Seeds,” “Ghosts,” and “Hungry Hearts.”

Springsteen will head to England and Europe next May after previously rescheduling shows as he recovered from “vocal issues.”

Thursday’s show comes a few days after Springsteen joined Vice President Kamala Harris for campaign rallies in Atlanta and Philadelphia. He opened in Philly with 1978’s “The Promised Land.”

“Now, I understand folks have different opinions about things, but this election is about a group of folks who want to fundamentally undermine our American way of life,” Springsteen told the crowd gathered at Temple University’s Liacouras Center. “Donald Trump doesn’t understand this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American.”
