Slipknot fans react to new ‘S’ logo on new merch: “Absolutely not”

Slipknot fans have reacted to the band’s new ‘S’ logo on their recent merch drop, with many less than happy with the design.

Corey Taylor and co took to the band’s official social media accounts to share some new limited-edition pieces of merch they have released which include a variety of t-shirts, tank tops and long sleeves. One of the more prominent features on the items is the band’s revamped ‘S’ logo which has left fans torn apart over its appearance.

The usual ‘S’ tribal logo was created by the late Joey Jordison – the band’s original drummer – and has remained a vital part of the Slipknot identity since.

Taking to the comments section to express their distaste with the new logo, one fan shared: “The s on the first one is complete ass guys,” with another fan adding:”Absolutely not.” Another fan also commented: “Oh god don’t change the S please, this new one s*cks, sorry love you guys❤️🔥.”

One fan who liked the logo update shared: “It’s better lol,” with another user replying to his comment with: “shit looks like a paper clip but go off lil man.”

“The first one HAS to be a social experiment,” shared another fan while a different user shared: “Love Slipknot they’re my favorite band but merch wise they haven’t been hitting at all I think last time I got merch was when the wind breakers were out.”

The caption of the post leads fans to an Instagram page titled @slipknotmerch. The website found in the profile’s link directs those who click on it to “the portal”, which has been described as “The direct connection to one’s very own imagination. Here in this space you’ll see what you’ll never see on the other side,” on the site.

The new ‘S’ logo has been referred to as a “Ritual S” on the product page on the Slipknot Merch site. Fans don’t need to get too worked up as it appears that other pieces within the collection still feature the tribal ‘S’ on the sleeves. A note on the site reads: “Extremely limited. You will never get this same item again. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for shipping.”

In other news, Taylor and Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan revealed their favourite rockstar masks and opened up about their various music feuds while going head-to-head on Hot Ones Versus.

Taylor has been vocal in recent years about trying to better himself. Speaking to NME last year, he opened up about his solo track ‘Post Traumatic Blues’, which deals with his experience of PTSD. “It was one of those songs that I didn’t want to just be about me and my experiences – I wanted it to be a bridge between people who are dealing with PTSD and the people who are desperately trying to understand the nuances of what people have to go through,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Taylor recently revealed that he thinks Dave Grohl having a child outside of his marriage is “irresponsible”, but “does not mean he’s not a nice person”.
