Kate McKinnon Is a Hanson Superfan, Tells the Band Her Haircut Came From ‘Copying’ Them

Kate McKinnon got to live the 90s dream!

The Saturday Night Live comedian came face-to-face with Hanson on Today Monday morning (Sept. 30), where she’s seen nervously greeting the sibling trio. When asked what it is about the “MMMBop” group she loves so much, she noted that she loves their “musicianship,” first and foremost.

McKinnon explained that her favorite song is “Go” from Hanson’s 2007 album The Walk. “It’s so beautiful, thematically and musically. The harmony’s so tight,” she explained.

The Barbie star then jokingly noted how much she loves Hanson’s “style,” adding of her short blonde hair, “Growing up on Long Island, this is why I have my haircut. I’ve just been copying you guys my whole life.”

When Zac Hanson told McKinnon that he loves the denim jumpsuit that she’s wearing, the comedian hilariously added, “Yes, I’ve just been copying you guys my whole life.”

Hanson is gearing up to embark on their Underneath: Experience Tour, which kicks off later this week on Oct. 3. The gig, which celebrates 20 years of their third studio album, Underneath, runs through Nov. 11. The band’s most recent album was 2022’s Red Green Blue.
