Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton has shared details of his first shows with a new band called Close Enemies.
News of the new band comes as Aerosmith confirmed that their days of touring had come to an immediate end, following frontman Steven Tyler seriously injuring his voice at a gig.
Now, while the ‘80s icons seem to have put everything on hold, Hamilton has taken to X/Twitter to confirm details of his latest project – including information about their first live show.
“Hey, I need to tell you something about a band I’m playing with called Close Enemies. We have a bunch of good songs recorded. We’re going to release one soon,” he wrote. “Meanwhile, we’re doing a show in Nashville on October 11 in Nashville at a place called Eastside Bowl. Please come!”
The rest of the Close Enemies line-up is comprised of drummer Tony Brock, singer Chasen Hampton, and guitarists Peter Stroud and Trace Foster.
The drummer was a founding member of English band The Babys and has also worked with Elton John, Rod Stewart and more. Foster was Hamilton’s bass technician in Aerosmith, and Stroud has previously worked with names including Sheryl Crow and Don Henley (via Louder).

Aerosmith’s final ever live show took place at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York last September and no one – including the band themselves – knew it would be their last
It was held as part of their ‘Peace Out’ tour, which began last year, but only saw the band play three nights, before rescheduling the rest of the dates after Tyler injured his larynx.
Earlier this summer, Hamilton spoke more about the future of the ‘80s icons, confirming that he “doesn’t know what the future holds” for Steven Tyler and co., and also hinting at his current band.
“The decision was made by the team which includes the band and our dedicated management… We don’t know what the future holds but it won’t include touring,” he said in an interview with Charlie Kendall’s Metalshop.
He was also asked if the band would consider going on the road with a replacement vocalist in the future – an idea that he soon shot down. “There’s been no talk at all about going on the road with another singer. I can’t imagine it,” he said.
“I’m sure all of us have music in our future and it will manifest itself in ways that we haven’t planned yet. I’ve been playing in a band with some good friends. We have a bunch of really good songs and we hope to be putting them out soon and hopefully doing some gigs.”
He also spoke to Guitar World earlier this month about his plans for the future. “As far as the career goes, I refuse to consider it over,” he began. “There are a lot of things we could do in the future. We’ll just have to see once we get out of reaction mode and back to creative mode. I’m going through a phase now where I can feel my playing taking a step upward. Inspiration is always right around the corner.”
Following the announcement that Aerosmith’s touring days had come to an end, numerous famous faces shared their sadness at the news. Queen guitarist Brian May, for instance, said that the announcement “brought a tear” to his eye, while Sammy Hagar shared his long history with the members, calling the retirement “a great fucking loss”.
It was later confirmed that fans could watch the band’s final ever show on YouTube in 4K quality.
Aerosmith’s last studio album arrived over a decade ago, when the band shared ‘Music From Another Dimension!’ in 2012. Steven Tyler’s last studio album arrived in 2016, in the form of a debut solo LP called ‘We’re All Somebody from Somewhere’.
