Ringo Starr Cancels Last Two Fall Tour Shows Over Illness

The drummer’s doctors advised him to get some rest and call off his final gigs in Philadelphia and New York City

Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band have canceled the last two shows on his North American summer tour after the former Beatle came down with a cold.

The two shows were scheduled to take place tonight, Sept. 24, in Philadelphia and tomorrow, Sept. 25, in New York City. Ticket holders can seek refunds at the point of purchase.

“Ringo has come down with a cold and after consulting a doctor he was advised to cancel these two remaining shows and get rest,” a note on the drummer’s Instagram page read. “As always, Ringo and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them soon.”

Starr and the All Starr Band have spent a good chunk of the year on the road, playing dates around the West Coast and in Mexico during the spring amidst an ongoing run of shows at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Their fall run kicked off just a few weeks ago on Sept. 12 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Earlier this year, Starr released a new solo EP, Crooked Boy. It was made in collaboration with Linda Perry, who wrote and produced every song on the four-track project. The pair first worked together in 2021, when Perry wrote “Coming Undone” for Starr’s Change the World EP. At an event with Perry earlier this year, Starr called her “the great songwriter,” while Perry spoke about getting the chance to work with one of her musical heroes.

“I was brought up with this incredible music of the Beatles,” she said (via Far Out). And I was brought up watching Ringo, and him always being my favorite, ’cause I thought he was the most charming and funniest one. And he is the most nice, charming, funny person, and filled with lots of love. A lot of love comes from this guy.”
