Listen to Demi Lovato’s reflective new single, ‘You’ll Be OK, Kid’

Demi Lovato has released a reflective new track, ‘You’ll Be OK, Kid’ – check it out below.

The track was written for Lovato’s new Hulu documentary, Child Star, which arrives on September 17.

“Working on Child Star was a deeply reflective experience for me,” Lovato explained in a statement [via Rolling Stone]. “It allowed me to deep dive into emotions from my childhood, while also connecting with others who had so many shared experiences.

“As we were editing the film, I became very inspired to write a song. The idea of connecting with my younger self through the pain and hardships that came along with child stardom was so important to me. I wrote the song as a letter to my inner child, and I hope that it can give others an opportunity to connect with their inner child as well.”

Check out the new song below.

Lovato co-directed Child Star, marking her directorial debut. The film explores the experience of being famous at a young age and having to grow up in public, and sees Lovato sit down with various former child stars like herself, including Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, JoJo Siwa, and Alyson Stoner.

The release of ‘You’ll Be OK, Kid’ follows news that Lovato is in the studio working on new music.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for a new feature, Lovato – who now uses she/her pronouns again along with they/them pronouns – opened up about what is next for them and shared that they are in the studio “making music and I am writing a ton and recording and having fun with that.”

The ‘Heart Attack’ singer’s last full-length release was 2023’s ‘Holy Fvck’. In a three-star review of the album, NME shared: “If ‘Holy Fvck’ is a funeral for Lovato’s pop music, it also marks a new beginning, with an artist reborn. As the musician explores this ferocious sonic world and celebrating her musical roots, it’s the start of a bold new era.”
