SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan scheduled to enlist in the military later this month

SEVENTEEN singer Jeonghan is scheduled to enlist in the military later this month, the boyband’s label has announced.

Today (September 12), Pledis Entertainment announced in a statement on fan community app Weverse that SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan will enlist for mandatory military on September 26. The singer will be the first member of the boyband to do so.

The label noted that due to Jeonghan’s enlistment, he will not be able to take part in the promotional activities for SEVENTEEN’s new mini-album and upcoming 2024 ‘Right Here’ world tour. “However, he will appear in various pre-recorded content,” it added.

“There will be no official event on the day of his enlistment, and we kindly request that you refrain from visiting the site of his military service,” Pledis Entertainment noted. “We ask for your continued love and support for the artist. Kindly send your best wishes for his safe and healthy return.”

The announcement took place on the same day that SEVENTEEN won the Best Group award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards in New York. Check out the full list of winners from the 2024 MTV VMAs here.

Earlier this month, SEVENTEEN became the first K-pop act to headline Lollapalooza Berlin. That set was also notably the last to feature Jeonghan before his upcoming military enlistment.

Speaking to NME before the performance, Jeonghan said he was “excited to deliver a captivating performance with the members that will create another great memory for Carats to look back on”.

Their Lollapalooza Berlin performance also notably saw the absence of member Jun. Prior to the festival, Pledis Entertaiment had announced that the singer would miss out on both the festival and the boyband’s upcoming tour to “pursue acting and other opportunities in China”.
