Richard Ashcroft announces two new 2024 UK gigs – including London show with string section

Richard Ashcroft has shared details of two new UK shows, both taking place later this year. Find ticket information below.

Announced today (September 9), the former Verve frontman will be playing two shows next month in the UK. The first of which is a slot at the historic Royal Albert Hall in London on October 25, and the second is at Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall two days later (27).

According to a new press release, the London gig will be unlike many of Ashcroft’s previous shows, and will see the singer-songwriter take to the stage to perform with a string section in what “promises to be a very special evening” for fans.

Tickets for both upcoming shows go on sale this Friday (September 13) at 9am BST, and will be available here.

In other Richard Ashcroft news, earlier this year the singer announced the support acts that would be joining him for his Wigan hometown shows. The gigs took place in July at Robin Park, and were first announced back in November 2023 when Ashcroft revealed to fans that he would be playing his first Wigan show in 25 years.

Britpop legends Cast, Liverpudlians Red Rum Club and Wigan’s own up-and-coming Maxwell Varey took to the stage for the first night, while the second saw him joined by indie rockers The Zutons, Welsh quartet The Royston Club, and another Wigan on-the-rise band, Stanleys.

Other gigs he played this year included a huge London show at Kew Gardens on July 14 and Margate’s iconic Dreamland venue on July 12.

Before then, he made headlines for recreating The Verve’s music video for ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ for Sky Sports.

Ashcroft filmed the video in honour of the British Grand Prix 2023, where instead of walking the streets of London, he performed the track around the UK’s Silverstone Circuit. The footage also featured retro footage from previous Grand Prixs, including footage of the audience.
