Fans Choose Fireboy DML’s ‘Adedamola’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music

Fireboy DML‘s Adedamola tops this week’s new music poll.

Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Aug. 30) on Billboard, choosing the Nigerian singer-songwriter’s latest studio album as their favorite new music release of the past week.

August might have slipped away like a bottle of wine, but end-of-summer tunes are still sinking in as September begins.

In this latest poll, Fireboy DML’s new album brought in more than 62% of the vote. Voters this week chose Adedamola over new music releases from Victoria Monét and Usher, A$AP Rocky, Noah Kahan, Big Sean and more.

The title of Adedamola is Fireboy DML’s birth name; he was born Adedamola Adefolahan, and condensed the “Damola” part of his first name to “DML” for his stage name.

The set has the artist (known for the 2022 smash “Peru,” which took off globally with a remix with Ed Sheeran) getting personal about his journey and relationships over 14 tracks, with features from Seun Kuti (on “Ecstacy”), Lojay (“Letting Go”), Lagbaja (“Back n Forth”), Jon Batiste (“Ready,” “Jon’s Interlude”) and Spinall (“Wande’s Bop”).

Adedamola was also an editor’s pick on the Friday Music Guide.

Among the new music trailing behind Adedamola on this week’s poll is Victoria Monét and Usher’s collab on the single “SOS,” with 8% of the vote, A$AP Rocky’s track “Tailor Swif,” with 3% of the vote, and Noah Kahan’s Live From Fenway Park album, with 2% of the vote.
