Adele announces engagement to Rich Paul during Munich show

Adele has announced she’s engaged to Rich Paul during one of her residency gigs in Munich.

The singer is said to have been dating NBA sports agent Paul since 2021, and after over a year of engagement rumours, Adele admitted to being engaged at the show.

In a clip from the gig where she is seemingly answering questions from fans on placards, she reads out “will you marry me?” before swiftly replying “I can’t marry you because I’m already getting married” and flashing her ring to the audience.

Her fans are celebrating this moment for Adele, both because they are happy for her and because of what this may mean about her future music.

One wrote: “So if Adele is engaged and getting married and she wrote All Night Parking about him then the next album’s going to be full of All Night Parking’s oh we won so bad”

Another said: “I love seeing good thing happen to good people esp after they’ve been through so much. Incredibly happy for Adele on getting engaged to a man who seems to be head over heels for her. It’s what she deserves.”

Adele spoke about her relationship with Paul in an interview with ELLE last summer, where she said she’s “never been in love with anyone like this before”. She said: “I’m obsessed with [Paul]. I’m just in loooove! I’m happy as I’ll ever be. I might as well be married.”

Rich Paul and Adele attended the 2023 Grammys together, where the singer took home the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Easy On Me’.

Adele was briefly married to charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki. Their son, Angelo, was born in 2012. The singer’s most recent studio album, ’30’, delved into the aftermath of her divorce from Konecki.

NME gave Adele’s ’30’ three stars in a review. It concluded: “This devastating level of honesty means that, despite its more experimental moments, ‘30’ still winds up feeling like trademark Adele, in its own way, most of the time.

“And after fair accusations of playing it safe musically in the past, it’s refreshing to see the pop titan treading braver territory – even if the hit-rate isn’t 100 per cent.”
