Chlöe Bailey announces release date for sophomore album ‘Trouble In Paradise’

Chlöe Bailey has announced the release date for her upcoming sophomore album ‘Trouble In Paradise’ – find out more about the album below.

In June, Chlöe Bailey revealed that she had been in Saint Lucia for an extended period of time to record the majority of her second solo album, ‘Trouble In Paradise’. Little else was shared about the album, but the singer-songwriter has now confirmed that the album will be released very soon.

Through an Instagram post shared on Monday (August 5), Bailey wrote: “a storm is coming. ‘TROUBLE IN PARADISE’ 8/9”. This confirms that the record will be out this Friday (August 9), and can be pre-saved now.

The album has so far been previewed by two singles, ‘FYS’ (short for ‘Fuck Your Status’) and ‘Boy Bye’. ‘FYS’ dropped on March 1, while ‘Boy Bye’ arrived on April 12, right in time for her performance at Coachella 2024.

Per a conversation with Nylon, Chlöe Bailey said that ‘Trouble In Paradise’ is “a coming-of-age celebration of being a woman and having fun, not taking life too seriously.” She also revealed that Anderson .Paak and Jeremih have features on the record, though she did not share if there are more guest performances on the album.

Perhaps most intriguingly for Chloe x Halle fans, ‘Trouble In Paradise’ also includes ‘Want Me’, the sisters’ first track together in three years. Chlöe told the publication that the song is essentially a heart-to-heart conversation between two friends, and that she knew only Halle would be able to get the job done.

‘Trouble In Paradise’ will serve as the follow-up to Chlöe Bailey’s 2023 debut solo album ‘In Pieces’. The album scored a three-star review from NME, with Sophie Williams writing: “At times, ‘In Pieces’ still stands as a fragmented version of the songwriter and producer’s talents… This misfire is a real shame, as Chlöe’s voice and production choices remain strong, focused and adaptable elsewhere. It’s disappointing, then, that it’s taken years of inconsistent messaging to get here.”
