Chlöe Reveals ‘Trouble in Paradise’ Release Date: ‘A Storm Is Coming’

Chlöe’s second solo album is just days away. On Monday, the R&B star shared a photo of herself wading in a pool as she announced that her forthcoming LP, Trouble in Paradise, will drop this Friday, Aug. 9.

“A storm is coming,” she wrote, before revealing the LP’s drop date, leading her fans to a presave link for the project. (It’s unclear if the image she posted is the album’s cover artwork, though she pinned the post on her Instagram and made the image her profile picture.)

Chlöe previously described the upcoming LP as “a coming-of-age celebration of being a woman and having fun, not taking life too seriously” in an interview with Nylon. The LP — set to feature Jeremih, Anderson .Paak, and her sister Halle — contrasts from In Pieces, which she told the outlet tackled her “appreciating the sadness of heartache.”

The singer recorded much of the album in the Caribbean and explained to Billboard that much of the LP is inspired by Afrobeats and “island vibes.” Chlöe has teased the album with two singles: “FYS” and “Boy Bye.” She also joined Qing Madi on a remix of “Vision” and joined Tinashe for a remix of “Nasty Girl” this year.

“‘Boy Bye’ is an anthem for anyone who needs to get rid of someone toxic and draining from their life,” the singer said in a statement. “It’s liberating and free. That’s how it feels to finally let go of dead weight that’s been keeping you down. Instead of being sad about releasing what’s not good for me, I celebrate it.”

Chlöe dropped her debut solo album, In Pieces, in 2022, featuring collaborations with Chris Brown, Future, and Missy Elliott. “When I worry too much about outside opinions, or who can I please the most or who will I not please, that will defeat the whole purpose of what art is about,” Chlöe previously told Rolling Stone. “Not everybody’s supposed to like art. It’s all about perspective. And, you know, not everybody will see or hear the same thing the same.”
