In front of hometown fans on Friday night (August 2) at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage, Drake performed for over an hour at the end of PartyNextDoor’s show.

“On behalf of me and Party, we’ve been working on something for y’all,” he told fans towards the end of the concert.

“So, you get the summer over with, you do what you need to do. I know all you girls are outside. When it gets a little chilly, [a] PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be waiting right there for you.”

Drake explained he was there “as a thank you, to each and every one of you for all your years of unwavering support,” particularly in light of the ever-growing popularity of the Kendrick Lamar diss track, ‘Not Like Us’.

He kicked things off with his 2015 remix of ‘Sweeterman’ by Ramriddlz, and then transitioned into the live debut of ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’.

In June, rapper Snowd4y – pronounced Snowday – shared a remix and cover of Plain White Ts’ ‘Hey There Delilah’ featuring a verse from Drake. The track sees the two alter the original Plain White T’s song to bizarre effect featuring parody-esque lyrics and a wealth of autotune.

The Plain White T’s shared on social media their reaction to listening to the song for first time, which they found so strange they assumed it was AI. “That’s not Drake,” Tom Higgenson said upon hearing Drake’s verse in the video.

“It’s crazy that everybody thinks that it’s real. It seems like it’s very obvious. I don’t know. But it’s cool. Whatever.”

Elsewhere in his performance, he played ‘Connect’, ‘Practice’, ‘Finesse’, ‘Redemption’ and ‘Pipe Down’. Drake called PartyNextDoor the “King of R&B”, before they revisited their 2016 collab ‘Come and See Me’ to close out the show.

Elsewhere, Drake has quoted rival Lamar‘s ‘Not Like Us’ in response to an impersonator dancing along to ‘Hotline Bling’, and recently appeared on two new songs from producer Gordo’s new album ‘Diamante’.
