Pulp have announced a pop-up pub in Manchester, ahead of their massive Wythenshawe Park show.
The Sheffield Britpop icons will be playing the UK headline exclusive show at Wythenshawe Park on Friday (August 28), and have now confirmed that they will be taking over the Rat & Pigeon pub to mark the occasion.
Set to open on Friday, the pub will be taken over by Pulp throughout the weekend – open from midday to 7pm on Friday (28), 12pm until late on Saturday (29) and 12pm until 2pm on Sunday (30).
There will be a series of events held at the pub, including live music, as well as limited edition merchandise, competitions, and test pressings of the band’s upcoming live album, ‘Live!’.
The jukebox is programmed by frontman Jarvis Cocker, and the venue will be decked out in rare Pulp paraphernalia borrowed from the band’s archive.
“Do you want something different?” the frontman asked in a new statement. “Do you want to revitalise your social life? Do you want to get drunk on possibility? (responsibly) Do you want to hear some really good music coming out of a juke box? Do you want to learn something interesting? Yes?
“Sounds like you need to visit the Pulp Pop-Up Pub at the Rat & Pigeon, 33 Back Piccadilly, City Centre, Manchester, M1 1HP… If you have a Thirst For Knowledge – this is the place for you. Bottoms up!”
The pub is open from Friday, and located at 33 Back Piccadilly, in the heart of Manchester’s City Centre.
As well as the upcoming Manchester show, Pulp are also releasing a new concert film, What Do You Do For An Encore?, in cinemas and on MUBI soon.
The band announced details of the new film back in June, as well as the aforementioned live album that will capture the Sheffield band’s two sold-out shows at The O2 in London last summer.
Last month, it was confirmed that global distributor MUBI would be previewing the movie for fans for one night only in UK and Irish cinemas on September 18, in Canadian theatres on September 23 and US cinemas on September 24. It arrives on streaming from September 25.
Earlier this summer, Pulp played a huge headline set to close out Mad Cool 2026 – where they broke out ‘Common People’ as England fans celebrated the win against Norway at the World Cup – and also delivered a special orchestral gig to celebrate 50 years of Rough Trade at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
After the Wythenshawe Park gig on August 28, they will top the bill at End Of The Road 2026 next month.
Since releasing ‘More’ last year, Pulp have dropped new track ‘Begging For Change’ for the the star-studded ‘Help(2)’ charity album for War Child, and also digitally released an EP featuring two new songs: ‘Marrying For Love’ and ‘Cold Call On The Hotline’.
