Post Malone has performed in the pre-game ceremony at the World Cup final, and used the slot to break out new song ‘Chrome Heartbreaker’. Check it out below.
The performance took place last night at the New York New Jersey Stadium, just ahead of kick-off for the FIFA World Cup final match between Spain and Argentina – where Spain won 1-0.
The victory for Spain marks their second World Cup triumph, and was remarkably similar to their first win in 2010, when they scored in extra time to win against the Netherlands.
Before the match though, there were a run of live performances and appearances from famous faces, including a quick live show from Post Malone. At the event, the rap and country star opened with new song ‘Chrome Heartbreaker’ – a laid-back new track he has been teasing over the past few days.
“I’m breakin’ bands up, I’m Yoko Ono/ She want that Benz truck, she want that Coco/ And now she lookin’ up at me like I’ma save her/ She don’t know that I’m a Chromе heartbreaker,” he sang in the chorus, sporting a shirt that read “I just hope both teams have fun”. Check it out below.

As well as the new song, Post Malone also played ‘Wow’ before inviting Swae Lee out for a rendition of ‘Sunflower’.
Before the appearance, FIFA President Gianni Infantino shared that the set would come at “a time when sport, culture, and global attention converge”, and will see the artist “deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists”.
Other performances ahead of the match included Tom Cruise coming out for a speech about unity and community, YouTube star IShowSpeed singing ‘Champions’, and Jennifer Hudson giving a powerful rendition of the US national anthem.
Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini and Nicole Scherzinger also performed the first “official World Cup Anthem” ‘Desire‘.
After kick-off, there was a run of musical performances at the midway point too, as Chris Martin of Coldplay organised the first ever World Cup Halftime Show – similar to that seen during the NFL Super Bowl. In the segment, Madonna, Shakira, BTS and Justin Bieber all performed, there were guest appearances from The Muppets, Chris Martin himself, Brazilian football legends Ronaldo and Ronaldinho and more.

The show also featured some memorable opinions from pundit and former England footballer Wayne Rooney, who slammed the show as “crap” while doing live coverage for BBC.
Famous faces in the audience at the final included President Donald Trump – who helped present medals to the winning team – as well as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Javier Bardem, Pharrell Williams and Matt Damon.
