Shakira remains the Queen of World Cup Music as she’s been tapped once again for the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song called “Dai Dai” with Nigerian star Burna Boy.
In an Instagram collab post with Global Citizen and FIFA World Cup, the Colombian artist — wearing a royal blue miniskirt and bright yellow top while holding a soccer ball — shared a one-minute clip of the song and music video that will premiere on May 14.
“You from the day you were born/ here in the space you belong … what broke you once, made you strong,” she sings from the Maracanã Stadium in Brasil’s Rio de Janeiro, followed by an aerial footage of the stadium with the phrase “We are ready.”
“Dai Dai” is a catchy reggaetón-tinged Afrobeats song that perfectly blends both Shakira and Burna’s musical worlds.
A true World Cup sweetheart, this will mark Shak’s second official FIFA World Cup song following the timeless “Waka, Waka (This Time for Africa)” recorded for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
“Waka Waka” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts in July 2010. On the Latin Rhythm Airplay, it peaked No. 8 and reached a No. 38 high on the Billboard Hot 100 during the same period. It also spent 42 weeks at No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales, Shak’s longest-leading title on that chart.
News of “Dai Dai” comes on the heels of Shakira performing for more than two million people at the free Todo Mundo No Rio festival in Copacabana, as well as announcing new U.S. dates for her high-demand Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour.
