Good Luck Not Crying to Noah Kahan and Hayley Williams’ Performance of ‘Downfall’

Kahan stopped by Williams’ multi-night stand at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium

Fresh off the release of his new album The Great Divide, Noah Kahan stopped by Hayley Williams‘ Nashville show to perform “Downfall.”

Kahan appeared onstage during Williams’ second of three nights at the Ryman Auditorium, on her first-ever solo tour. “Thank you Hayley, you’re a legend,” Kahan said, before breaking into the Great Divide highlight. Williams joined Kahan for the chorus, harmonizing with him.

Kahan co-produced and co-wrote “Downfall” with Aaron Dessner and Gabe Simon, while Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon contributed backing vocals. Hours after releasing the album on April 24, Kahan dropped the extended version The Great Divide: The Last of the Bugs, which included four additional tracks: “Lighthouse,” “Staying Still,” “A Few of Your Own,” and “Orbiter.”

Kahan released The Great Divide, his fourth album, in tangent with the Netflix documentary Noah Kahan: Out of Body. Directed by Nick Sweeney, the film traces Kahan’s incredible rise to fame, and the pressure to follow up his breakout album Stick Season. He’ll embark on a massive sold-out stadium tour this summer, which includes a stop at Rolling Stone‘s inaugural Stateside festival in Kingston, New York, on July 4.

Meanwhile, Williams will continue her tour in North America through next month, before she heads to the U.K. and Europe. She released her most recent solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, last year. Back in December, she covered the Judee Sill classic “Lopin’ Along Thru the Cosmos” with Florence Welch and her Rolling Stone cover co-star Jack Antonoff.
