The project features three new alt-pop tracks, two of which the singer debuted at Coachella last week
María Zardoya is ushering in spring with new EP Bloom, which she released under her solo moniker Not for Radio. It finds the singer shaking the frost from her winter album Melt and stepping into a sun-soaked garden with three new tracks “Kitten,” “Ache,” and “Living Room.” Last week, Zardoya live debuted “Kitten” and “Ache” during her bewitching solo Coachella performance. She previously performed “Living Room” for her Winter in the Garden tour earlier this year.
In an Instagram post announcing the surprise “mini EP” a couple of days ago, the singer revealed that the project would be her last release under Not for Radio “for a while.” She also clarified that the live version of “Comet,” which she debuted on tour, will be released on a limited-edition, flower-shaped vinyl version of Bloom. The vinyl will also feature a Not for Radio version of the María’s hit song “No One Noticed.”
The EP comes as Zardoya kicks off the European leg of her tour for Melt. She will hit major cities including London, Paris, and Milan, among others, performing as Not for Radio.

Last year, Zardoya discussed venturing into her solo act with Role Model (Tucker Pillsbury) for Rolling Stone‘s Musicians on Musicians cover story. “I was like, ‘I think I want to put myself in a really uncomfortable situation and try to make music outside of the band. And I think I want to go somewhere really cold and snowy. Maybe upstate New York,’” she said, referring to the place where Melt was recorded. “I had made music with the Marías in L.A. for so long. And I’m an island girlie. I’m from Puerto Rico. I love the warmth. And I wanted intentionally to be uncomfortable and see what would happen from that discomfort,” she added.
