‘Michael’ 2026

The 2026 ‘Michael’ film stars Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar. The film is set to release in theaters on April 24 and is produced by Lionsgate.

The film begins with Michael’s early life growing up in Gary, Ind., to becoming a Motown artist at just age 6 and frontman of the Jackson 5. From his time in the Jackson 5, the film goes into his solo career era, which began in 1971. Michael was still with the Jackson 5 when he released his debut solo single, “Got to Be There.” The song reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 4 on the R&B chart. Michael would leave the Jackson 5 officially in 1984 to focus on his solo career, which was blossoming at a rapid pace. He sought creative freedom and wanted to carve out a distinct identity for himself within the music sphere.

In a career that spanned almost all 50 years, Jackson became a mainstay on the Billboard charts, from his time with the Jackson 5 to going solo; 13 of his singles went No. 1 on the Hot 100. After a legendary run in the music industry, he died on June 25, 2009, at age 50 from acute propofol intoxication.
