Brandy appeared alongside R&B group June’s Diary to sing the U.S. national anthem at the 2026 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday (Feb. 15).
Brandy led an a capella pre-game performance at Inglewood, Calif.’s Intuit Dome, with June’s Diary layering their vocals in harmony with hers. The result was an original take on “The Star-Spangled Banner” that veered from the song’s traditional melody.
Also on Sunday, Sarah McLachlan performed the Canadian national anthem, “O Canada,” and “Roundball Rock” composer John Tesh led a performance of the classic basketball theme ahead of tip-off.

This year’s event — the first-ever USA vs. the world All-Star game, which featured three teams (Team USA Stars, with head coach J.B. Bickerstaff of the Detroit Pistons; Team USA Stripes, with head coach Mitch Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs, and Team World, with head coach Darko Rajaković) competing in a round-robin tournament — was hosted by the Los Angeles Clippers. Last month, Brandy was presented with the Black Music Icon award at the 2026 Recording Academy Honours; the honor recognizes Black music creators whose artistry, innovation and service have shaped the industry and inspired generations. In December, she wrapped her co-headlining The Boy Is Mine Tour with Monica, a concert that celebrated the duo’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “The Boy Is Mine” (1998).
