LA’s Hotel Café, Closing in 2026, to Host Charity Concert

Los Angeles’ Hotel Café will say goodbye with a special showcase of rising artists on Jan. 29.

After 25 years on Cahuenga Blvd., the intimate venue located in Hollywood is set to close its doors this year — but not before holding a special charity event benefiting the mental health organization Backline.

For the past 11 years, the Hotel Café Farewell Showcase, presented by OnesToWatch, has featured a lineup of emerging talent, which the venue has become known for fostering. Artists such as Sara Bareilles, Damien Rice and more performed at Hotel Café early in their careers; the venue has also welcomed established artists for underplays.

This year’s lineup will include Em Beihold, Love Spells, Carlie Hanson, Niki Rubio, Debbii Dawson, Victoria Canal and special guests. Proceeds from the event will go to the venue and Backline, a nonprofit providing mental health and wellness resources for music industry professionals, creatives and their families.

“We can’t wait to welcome back these talented artists who had early shows at Hotel Café, taking a moment to reflect on our history on Cahuenga, and the future of what’s to come,” said Hotel Café production manager Gia Hughes in a statement.

While Hotel Café will say goodbye to its current location this year, co-founders Marko Shafer and Max Mamikunian plan to reopen it sometime in 2027. The new location will be housed in the Lumina Hollywood building on Sunset and Gordon.

“The expanded venue will honor the soul and intimacy of the original location, while offering a more modern, elevated experience for both artists and audiences,” the owners said in an Instagram post announcing the closure in November. “Beyond the physical space, we are also working on new ways to spark music discovery as well as support independent and touring artists. We are very excited for this next chapter and will share more as it comes together.”
