Mitski has started teasing new music by wiping her Instagram page clean, and sharing a cryptic link inviting fans to call a new phone line.
Fans first noticed that new Mitski news could be on the way over the weekend, when the singer deleted all of her posts from Instagram.
Soon after, a post was made on all her social media pages, showing the ‘Liquid Smooth’ singer humming a new song while walking around the kitchen. There was also a new website was added to her bios, encouraging fans to visit a new page called wheresmyphone.net.
On the site, one half of the homepage read “MITSKI Where’s My Phone?’ and comes with a new phone number. The other half has a video of an iPhone, and seems to show text messages and missed calls from fans flashing up on the lockscreen in real time.
Those who try to call the phone number hear a voicemail from the singer that says: “Hi. It’s Mitski, you’ve reached the Tansy House. No one can come to the phone right now, but please leave a message at the beep.”
While it hasn’t yet been confirmed if the post is leading to an album announcement, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the battery life on the iPhone lockscreen is gradually declining by one or two per cent each hour.
With that in mind, the battery will likely run out at some point on Friday (January 16) – meaning that the site may be a countdown to an announcement at the end of the week.
Fans who get in touch with the new number have also been sent a link to sign-up for updates. When their phone number is submitted, they receive a reply that reads: “Thank you for your help”.

If a new album is on the way, it will mark the first from Mitski since 2023, when she shared her seventh record ‘The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We’. NME celebrated that album as “masterful” in a four-star review, and the project was later followed by a live film, titled The Land.
While the singer hasn’t shared a full album since then, she has dropped a handful of singles. These include a collaboration with Tamino on a track called ‘Sanctuary’, and a guest feature on the title track for Florence + The Machine’s latest album, ‘Everybody Scream’.
Mitski’s latest release was a cover of Pete Townshend’s ‘Let My Love Open the Door’. It was recorded as part of the soundtrack to A Big Bold Beautiful Journey – a Kogonada-directed fantasy romance starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.
