Brandon Flowers on when to expect The Killers’ next album – with two new solo records on the way

Brandon Flowers has revealed when a new The Killers album may arrive, as well as details of his two upcoming solo albums.

The musician shared that their eighth studio album will be released in 2027 – after his next solo album and tour are complete.

“My best guess is that in 2027 you will get the best Killers record,” he said of the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Pressure Machine’, per The Sun.

“I have two records complete. One is almost mixed. The other will follow shortly. I’m trying to decide how this is going to work logistically,” he added. “I had a ball making them in Nashville. It’s a departure for sure. Gotta keep you all on your toes.”

It comes after Flowers spoke to NME in May last year, when he detailed the aforementioned solo albums. “The next thing we’re going to get is a Brandon Flowers record, unfortunately! It’s so good,” he explained at the time.

He went on to say that the forthcoming project would be “a step backwards” from his previous solo effort, 2015’s ‘The Desired Effect’.

“It’s more in the ‘Flamingo’ [2010] direction,” he told NME. “I made two South West records, if you want to know the truth. One is a romantic South West record, and the other is a narrative South West record which picks up where [The Killers’ 2021 album] ‘Pressure Machine’ left off.”

Flowers added: “I’m thrilled about both of them, and they’ll both come out before the next Killers record – but I’m thrilled about the next Killers record.”

On why it’s taken so long for the band to bring out a new studio album, Flowers also told The Sun: “In 2022 we finally took ‘Imploding The Mirage’ on the road. It was immense and we did 90-plus gigs.

“In 2023 we did 65 more gigs. There was a pent-up demand for that communal experience after Covid. Here’s where it gets tricky,” he continued.

“Then 2024 saw us celebrating 20 years of ‘Hot Fuss’ with the residency at Caesar’s, and 20 years of the band with ‘Rebel Diamonds’.

He went on to add: “The production and time that went into it all wiped out 2024, 2025 wrapped up so the two solo records I expect will be coming out in 2026. We’ve been writing here and there.”

Flowers also told us what to expect for the upcoming album, as well as whether it will sound like their 2022 single ‘Boy’.

“No, that was that. I don’t know what exactly it’s going to be; it’s a little too early to say, but we will not put it out unless it is the best,” he told us. “We’ve already discussed it. It’s gotta be so good or it’s not worth it.”
