Megan Thee Stallion wins defamation suit against blogger she called a “puppet” for Tory Lanez

Megan Thee Stallion has won her defamation suit against a blogger that she called a “puppet” for Tory Lanez.

Last year, the rapper filed a lawsuit against Milagro Gramz – real name Milagro Elizabeth Cooper – alleging that Gramz had shared deepfake porn of Megan and spread lies about her case against Lanez. The suit also accused Gramz of “cyberstalking, intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy”.

Yesterday (Monday December 1), a jury in Miami sided with Megan, agreeing that Gramz defamed and harassed the rapper, and awarding her $75,000 (£57,000) (via NBC News). District Judge Cecilia Altonaga later reduced the damages to $59,000 (£45,000).

Megan’s attorney Mari Henderson said: “We’re thankful for the jury’s commitment to reinforcing the importance of truth, accountability and responsible commentary on social media.”

“Not only is Milagro being held accountable for paying Megan compensatory and punitive damages, but Florida’s fee-shifting legal provision will require her to cover costs of Megan’s legal bills on the deepfake claim. This verdict sends a clear message that spreading dangerous misinformation carries significant consequences.”

Leaving the court, Gramz said: “I’m not ecstatic. Of course you want things to go your way, but like I said, I respect the jury and what they decided.”

Her attorney Jeremy McLymont added: “We respect the jury’s verdict. You always have to, right? Whether we agree with it or not, we respect it. At the end of the day it was not a complete win for any side.”

Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023 for an incident that happened in July 2020, when Megan was shot in her feet while leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house.

He was found guilty of all three charges pegged against him: one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, one count of carrying a concealed, loaded, and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and one charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

The rapper-singer has maintained his innocence from behind bars and was granted a chance to appeal the judgement last year. Drake, Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, Amber Rose, Trippie Redd, Kodak Black and more have all signed a petition asking California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon him.

Since then, Megan has successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez after telling a court that she feared she may be shot again if Lanez were to be released from prison.

In May, it was reported that Lanez had been stabbed 14 times in prison by a fellow inmate, with both of his lungs reportedly collapsing, causing him to require a breathing apparatus.
