A$AP Rocky named as new brand ambassador for Chanel

A$AP Rocky has been officially unveiled as the latest brand ambassador for the French fashion house Chanel.

The rapper has been identified as an artist whose “talent, curiosity and limitless creativity” fit Chanel’s ambitions, in an announcement shared online yesterday (November 29).

Chanel artistic director Matthieu Blazy has said: “Rocky is an incredible artist who puts his heart and soul into every project he’s involved in, in addition to being an incredible human being.”

“Musician, actor, father, friend…he brings so much to the table and always delivers with kindness. We are thrilled to welcome him to Chanel and I’m thrilled to work together again.”

To accompany the news, a specially-commissioned short film from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry has been released, starring Rocky opposite The Substance star Margaret Qualley. You can watch it below.

Speaking about taking on the new role, Rocky has said: “Matthieu’s imagination is pushing fashion forward. His designs feel both sensitive and strong, they’re grounded in reality but at the same time, always invite one to wonder. I’m so excited to see him at Chanel.”

It has been a busy year for Rocky – in February, he was found not guilty by a jury in Los Angeles after standing trial for allegedly firing a gun at his former friend A$AP Relli in the Hollywood area in 2021. He had faced 24 years in prison after turning down a plea deal for 180 days in jail.

In September, Rocky and Rihanna welcomed their third child together – Rocki Irish Mayers was born on September 13. The ‘Umbrella’ star had revealed her pregnancy while making a fashionably later entrance at the Met Gala in May.

Rocky also played a headline set at Rolling Loud California in March, performing a cluster of new songs from on board a helicopter, and last month he popped up during Playboi Carti’s performance of ‘Long Time’ during a show in Los Angeles.

He has also had a successful year at the movies, starring in indie hit If I Had Legs I’d Kick You alongside Rose Byrne and Conan O’Brien, as well as Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, opposite Denzel Washington.
