This year’s edition of the annual K-pop wards is slated over two days in Hong Kong on November 28 and 29. Earlier this week, a massive blaze broke out in an apartment building in Hong Kong.

Per the BBC, the death toll has risen to 94, with more people missing. The raging fire took nearly two whole days to put out, as the materials used to construct the building were not fireproof. Investigations are ongoing.

Ahead of the scheduled MAMA Awards tonight, organisers have confirmed that the ceremony will proceed as planned, though its red carpet event is being cancelled. Per a Soompi report, a statement from the MAMA committee has also confirmed that a segment of the show will include a “support Hong Kong” message to “create a time to share in the sorrow and commemorate” the devastating incident.

Additionally, the committee plans to “contribute our efforts through donations to support the victims” of the deadly blaze.

MAMA’s statement continued: “The 2025 MAMA AWARDS believes in the power of music to heal and unite. We are carefully preparing the overall stage composition and proceedings to ensure that it becomes a ceremony that conveys comfort and hope, rather than just dazzling productions.

“We hope that music can bring even a small amount of comfort and courage to everyone’s hearts. The 2025 MAMA AWARDS promises to be a responsible event that does its utmost until the very end.”

Among the performers scheduled to take the stage over the two-day event are ALPHA DRIVE ONE, BABYMONSTER, BOYNEXTDOOR, BUMSUP, ENHYPEN, Hearts2Hearts, IVE,  MEOVV, Super Junior, TWS, ALL DAY PROJECT, CORTIS, KickFlip, izna, Stray Kids, RIIZE, ZEROBASEONE, i-dle, MIRROR, NCT WISH, TREASURE, aespa, G-Dragon, IDID, JO1, KYOKA and Tomorrow X Together.
