FKA twigs, Sturgill Simpson and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy to star in new Boy Harsher thriller

FKA twigs, Sturgill Simpson and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy will make up the cast of a new thriller directed by Boy Harsher.

The electronic duo, real names Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller, will be making their first foray into feature films, having already directed 2022 short The Runner, with a movie titled The Lonely Woman. Alongside the three artists announced, Oscar nominee Chloë Sevigny (After The Hunt) will also be appearing in the film.

The film’s synopsis, shared by Stereogum, reads: “An unnerving, sensual and atmospheric horror-thriller set in the forgotten corners of rural New England, The Lonely Woman follows a woman marked by her first love’s death in a mountain tunnel.

“Drawn into the mystery of a new disappearance, she finds herself confronting a seductive and terrifying presence buried beneath the town.”

The film is set to be released next year, and recently wrapped filming in Upstate New York.
While primarily known for their music, all three artists attached to the film have substantial acting resumes.

Country star Bonnie “Prince” Billy, real name Will Oldham, has acted in numerous films, most recently The Bikeriders with Tom Hardy and Austin Butler. Likewise, Simpson has appeared in Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon and sci-fi epic The Creator.

FKA twigs has made a number of high-profile acting appearances since her feature debut, starring in 2019 drama Honey Boy. She appeared opposite Bill Skarsgård in last year’s remake of The Crow, and can currently be seen in The Carpenter’s Son, a biblical horror co-starring Nicolas Cage currently in cinemas.

In May, she was linked to the lead role in a biopic of trailblazing performer Josephine Baker.

In music news, the ‘Eusexua’ star recently joined PinkPantheress for debut of new song ‘Wild And Alone’.
