Oasis Honor Stone Roses Bassist ‘Mani’ With ‘Live Forever’ and ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’ in Brazil

“We want to dedicate this to our dear friend, our hero, the one and only Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield,” Liam Gallagher says at their penultimate reunion show

Oasis honored the late Stone Roses bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield on Saturday night during their show at Estadio MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil. Mounfield’s death at age 63 was confirmed by his brother on Thursday.

“We want to dedicate this to our dear friend, our hero, the one and only Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield,” singer Liam Gallagher said before the band launched into “Live Forever.” Toward the end of the song, an image of Mani was displayed on a video screen behind them, which the band turned to face.

Before they performed their next song, Gallagher introduced it by saying, “Mani can have this one as well, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star.’”

Gallagher previously paid tribute to Mounfield on social media when the news broke. “IN TOTAL SHOCK AND ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED ON HEARING THE NEWS ABOUT MANI MY HERO RIP RKID LG,” he wrote. His brother and bandmate Noel Gallagher posted a photo of Mounfield with the caption: “RIP Brother. It was a pleasure to have known you.”

Oasis’ dedication to the late bassist of the Stone Roses and Primal Scream came during the penultimate show of their reunion tour, which will wrap tonight after its second and final night at Estadio MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil.

For fans hoping for an encore in 2026, they are likely out of luck: Gallagher gave fans a resounding “NO” when asked about it. He emphatically followed it up with “YES IM FUCKING SERIOUS.” However, when a fan asked about a return to the road in 2027, he left the door open as a possibility. “Maybe,” he wrote.
