Charli XCX Stars as Fictionalized Version of Herself in ‘The Moment’ Trailer

A24 film weaves real-life footage and scripted material to tell story about “a rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure”

Charli XCX stars as herself in the first trailer for the singer’s upcoming film The Moment, a movie that goes behind-the-scenes of Brat Summer while simultaneously serving as metafiction about the music industry.

The A24 film was directed by Aidan Zamiri and “based on an original idea” by XCX. A previous logline teased that The Moment was about “a rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut,” and with the first trailer, it’s revealed the “rising pop star” in question is Charli XCX herself.

As the preview shows, The Moment combines real-life moments from the Brat tour — XCX’s stop to The Late Show, concert footage, etc. — with scripted material to form the narrative. “It’s fiction, but it’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen,” XCX previously said of the film, adding that it was “not a tour documentary or a concert film in any way.”

The trailer also hints at some of the film’s all-star cast with Rachel Sennott, Alexander Skarsgaard, and Kylie Jenner making quick cameos; the film will also feature Kate Berlant, Rosanna Arquette, Hailey Benton Gates, Jamie Demetriou, and others in XCX’s orbit, like Shygirl and A.G. Cook, who’s handling of The Moment’s music.

2026 is shaping up to be a big year on the big screen for XCX, who has also crafted an album’s worth of music for the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation.
