Olivia Rodrigo has slammed the White House and the Department of Homeland Security for using her music in a promotion video for self-deportations.

The pop star was responding to a clip showing United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers forcibly tackling and detaining people, which was soundtracked by the rock-heavy section of ‘Guts‘ track ‘All-American Bitch’.
As the calmer interlude kicks in, this was contrasted with the supposedly smooth experience guaranteed by self-deporting, with people in the clip seen boarding flights with smiles and giving a thumbs up to the camera.
“LEAVE NOW and self-deport using the CBP Home app,” the post was captioned. “If you don’t, you will face the consequences.” On Friday (November 7), Rodrigo responded, commenting: “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.”

Her comment has since been deleted, though it’s unclear if that was Rodrigo’s doing or not. However, since it disappeared from the comments section, many of her fans have been re-circulating screenshots and praising her for speaking out.
When approached by Rolling Stone for comment, a DHS spokesperson said, “America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe. We suggest Ms. Rodrigo thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.”
Rodrigo has been vocal about the ongoing deportation crisis in the USA, and back in June, decried the administration’s actions in Los Angeles, where a series of protests against ICE raids took place.
At the time, the former NME cover star said: “Treating hardworking community members with such little respect, empathy, and due process is awful. I stand with the beautiful, diverse community of Los Angeles and with immigrants all across America.
“I stand for our right to freedom of speech and freedom to protest.”
Among the numerous artists who have spoken out against the ongoing raids – which includes Addison Rae and Shakira – is Bad Bunny, who previously witnessed an ICE raid in Puerto Rico in June. Following the raid he witnessed, Bad Bunny declared that his world tour would not hit the United States as he was afraid of ICE agents raiding his shows and affecting the audience and their lives.
He was later announced as the headliner for next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, and Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski and US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem then confirmed that ICE agents will be present at the Super Bowl and that illegal immigrants would not be safe there.
