The Grantham singer-songwriter returned with a gothic love song, sharing the new track alongside a visualiser directed by Silken Weinberg (Ethel Cain).

Speaking about ‘Die Happy’, Humberstone explained that “I wrote Die Happy thinking about a fairytale at night, somewhere between driving fast with the windows down and
wandering through a crumbling old house.

“I took inspiration from The Bloody Chamber and Dracula and I wanted to show the feeling of throwing yourself into love fully and recklessly. There is danger in love.”

Humberstone’s last project was the EP ‘Work In Progress‘, which she released on March 2024 and previewed with the single ‘Dive‘.

Before that, she released her debut album ‘Paint My Bedroom Black’, which NME rated four stars: “Ultimately, ‘Paint My Bedroom Black’ finds the artist trying to do right by her loved ones and make sense of her own turbulent world, but it’s also a cue to listeners that things could go anywhere from here.

“In pursuit of an authentic sound, Humberstone proves that she’s not only inhabiting her own space – and beckoning listeners in – but also building out the walls”.

She is soon to tour with Sam Fender in Australia for his album ‘People Watching‘ after supporting Taylor Swift at her ‘Eras Tour’ Wembley dates in 2024. See all Fender and Humberstone’s dates together below and get your tickets here:

Sam Fender’s ‘People Watching’ Australia 2025 tour dates with support from Holly Humberstone are:

NOVEMBER
11 – Melbourne – Sidney Myer Music Bowl
19 – Brisbane – Riverstage
21 – Sydney – The Showring, Entertainment Quarter
25 – Adelaide – Adelaide Entertainment Centre
28 – Perth – Kings Park & Botanic Garden

We spoke to Humberstone around the time of her debut album The Cover, where she spoke about the challenges of writing music in a male-dominated industry as a woman.

“Things have started to change, but I used to assume it was a rarity to come across a woman in these spaces,” she told us. “It felt like a treat, even. I was so ambitious – and still am – but I had to ensure that I wasn’t letting external pressures impact the music I was making.”
