Benson Boone cancelled his Birmingham concert an hour before it was due to start due to illness.
The musician was set to take to the stage at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena last night (November 1) as part of his ‘American Heart‘ tour, but called off the show at the last minute.
In a statement posted on his Instagram account, he apologised to fans and said he had “tried everything” to revive his voice, but he would not be able to perform the show he wanted to due to the “condition of my throat”.
He added that he was working with his team to find a date to reschedule as soon as possible. “I promise you I will do everything in my power to make it up to you”, he wrote.
In an additional statement, the Utilita Arena also said it was “working through all possible options to reschedule”.
“We understand how disappointing this is and sincerely apologise for the extremely short notice and inconvenience caused,” they added. Boone is yet to confirm if he will perform his next three dates in London starting on Monday (November 3).

NME gave Boone’s second studio album ‘American Heart’ two stars in a review earlier this year, which read: “It would be easy to say he’s landed on his face, but it’s not even that: the boy wonder’s stuck the landing he was aiming for. This is bombastic, overproduced pop-rock with an attention-seeking, theatrical bent and broad brushstroke lyrics everyone can relate to. Boone summer 2025 looms on the horizon. Take cover.”
Earlier this year, Boone opened up about his Mormon childhood, stating that it made him feel “confused and frustrated”.
Elsewhere, Boone recently hit out at the people who “hate” him or dislike his music, saying they should “at least have a good reason” for doing so.
