Florence + The Machine have covered Lady Gaga’s recent single ‘Abracadabra’ – check out the performance below.

The band recently played a stripped-back session for SiriusXM in support of their new album ‘Everybody Scream’, which was released today (Friday October 31).
Florence Welch and co. played ‘Which Witch’ from the deluxe edition of their 2015 third album, ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’, while incorporating Gaga’s ‘Mayhem’ track from this year.
F+TM swapped the synth-y, electro-pop elements of the original song for a more organic sound, consisting of flute, harp and violin. The lyrics of ‘Abracadabra’. The band also delivered a rendition of their latest single ‘Sympathy Magic’.
Welch previously collaborated with Gaga on the song ‘Hey Girl’ from the latter’s 2016 album ‘Joanne’. Speaking about the team-up that year, Gaga said: “She’s really to me, if not the best, but one of the greatest vocalists in the world. She’s incredible.”
In addition to ‘Sympathy Magic’, Florence + The Machine’s new record features the singles ‘Everybody Scream’ and ‘One Of The Greats’.
The follow-up to 2022’s ‘Dance Fever’ contains contributions from IDLES‘ Mark Bowen, Mitski and The National’s Aaron Dessner – all of whom worked with Welch on the title track, too.
Welch previously explained that the inspiration for the album had come from undergoing lifesaving surgery during the ‘Dance Fever’ tour in 2023. She has since opened up further about the procedure, revealing that she had suffered an ectopic pregnancy.
“The closest I came to making life was the closest I came to death,” she said in a recent interview. “And I felt like I had stepped through this door, and it was just full of women, screaming.”
She has also touched on delving into spiritual mysticism and folk horror – understanding the limits of her body and questioning what it meant to be “healed”. These are themes that helped shape the record, along with exploration of womanhood, partnership, ageing and dying.
Meanwhile, Florence + The Machine have announced a trio of outdoor shows in Ireland and Scotland for next summer. These will follow the band’s UK and European tour, and their run of North American dates in April and May. Find ticket details here (UK/Ireland).
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that F+TM would be headlining NOS Alive 2026 in Lisbon.
Elsewhere, the group recently gave the song ‘Everybody Scream’ its live debut on The Graham Norton Show before premiering ‘Sympathy Magic’ on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
