In support of Hispanic Heritage Month, Hija de tu Madre designer Patty Delgado talks to Billboard about the origin of her clothing line, teaming up with Walmart on the Nueva Vida collection and reveals a familiar face will rock the line during an En Vivo performance at Billboard Latin Music Week.

Patty Delgado: My greatest inspiration for starting my brand Hija de tu Madre is this very strong need to create something that really represented my community, that celebrated my family’s migrant story, and me a first gen Latina. So for me, the best way to do that was through fashion

Judy Sanchez: Jackets, vests, shirts and more. Walmart is celebrating Hispanic heritage with Hija de tu Madre Nueva Vida capsule collection, and it’s making an appearance at Billboard Latin Music Week. When first generation Mexican American designer Patty Delgado noticed there wasn’t much apparel that reflected her culture. She took things in her own hands and started Hija de tu Madre, a clothing line that celebrated her Mexican heritage and American upbringing.

Patty Delgado: A lot of the things that I saw growing up just did not resonate with my story and my upbringing, and oftentimes kind of felt like a stereotype or a trope, and I really wanted to create authentic Latina representation. So for me, it’s incorporating all the little details that make home home in my clothing.

Judy Sanchez: The line and its design is rooted in honoring Latinx culture in a way that feels stylish, playful and vibrant. Fast forward to 2025 and Walmart has taken notice of the line. In September, it was announced that Hija de tu Madre launched a limited time collab with Walmart called the Nueva Vida collection, sold exclusively on walmart.com. The unisex line is titled appropriately as a way to honor Patti’s first generation identity and her parent’s journey from Mexico. The 14 piece collection offers everything from jackets, matching pants, vests and more.
