Lorde praises Primavera Sound 2026 line-up – is she set to be announced?

Lorde has shared her seal of approval for the 2026 Primavera Sound line-up – could this be a hint that she may be added to the bill?

The Barcelona festival is due to return to the Parc del Fòrum between June 4-6 next year, with The Cure, Gorillaz, The xx, Doja Cat and Massive Attack all set to perform.

The full line-up was shared yesterday (Thursday September 25), also confirming Wet Leg, My Bloody Valentine, Addison Rae, PinkPantheress, Kneecap, Mac DeMarco, Lola Young, Big Thief, JADE, Marina, Blood Orange, Father John Misty, Ethel Cain, Slowdive, Little Simz, Yard Act, Knocked Loose, Skrillex, Peggy Gou and Viagra Boys.

Lambrini Girls, Cameron Winter, NewDad, These New Puritans, Water From Your Eyes, The New Eves and Fcukers were on the bill too, although one name that some fans were certain would be appearing at the festival was omitted: Lorde.

The Kiwi singer was one of the most strongly rumoured names for the 2026 line-up – with her sharing her highly anticipated album ‘Virgin’ this summer, making a surprise appearance at Glasto, and kicking off her ‘Ultrasound’ world tour.

Now though, it looks like there is a slight chance that her name could still be added to the line-up, as she has left an intriguing comment on a post regarding the festival.

Taking to Instagram, she commented on a photo of the 2026 Primavera Sound poster, writing: “This line-up rules”.

While it is pretty vague, the comment has already attracted fans’ attention, and has some wondering if it could be a hint that she will be a part of that line-up soon.

“Hope they add her,” one fan wrote, sharing a screenshot of her update on Reddit, while another added: “This is so suspicious.”

It was no secret that many fans were left surprised and disappointed to not see the ‘Royals’ singer on the bill for Primavera 2026, and many took to social media to share their response to her name not being included in the original line-up.

“no lorde this year for primavera…,” one wrote on X/Twitter, sharing a meme of someone smashing a television out of frustration. Another shared a similar update along with a photo of the singer crying, while a third shared that they thought the line-up was “almost perfect”, and only knocked down because it was “missing Lorde in my opinion”. Check out more responses from fans below.

Lorde will begin a run of UK and European live dates in November, which currently does not include any stops in Spain. She last performed at Primavera Sound Barcelona in 2022.

Earlier this month, Lorde performed ‘No Better’ for the first time in 11 years at her ‘Ultrasound’ world tour opener, and is set to continue her trek through North America until late October.

Her dates in the UK include shows at Manchester’s AO Arena, London’s O2 Arena, Glasgow’s OVO Hydro and Birmingham’s Utilitia Arena. Visit here for any remaining North American tickets and here for any remaining tickets for the UK and European tour dates.

‘Virgin’ scored a four-star review from NME, which read: “Ultimately, ‘Virgin’ is a vibrant combination of Lorde’s best qualities, and then some. With her newfound candour, the record combines the emotional whirlwind of ‘Melodrama’, the chilling minimalism of ‘Pure Heroine’ and the breezy freedom of ‘Solar Power’.

“This might be called ‘Virgin’, but Lorde proves she’s not afraid to strip herself bare.”

As for Primavera, this year’s edition of the festival was headlined by Charli XCX, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. The event also hosted slots from LCD Soundsystem, FKA Twigs, Haim, Jamie xx, Fontaines D.C., Beach House, IDLES, Turnstile and more.
