The band – comprised of Steve Mason (singer/guitar), Richard Greentree (bass), John Maclean (samples/keyboard) & Robin Jones (drums) – announced their surprise return earlier this year with a UK and North American comeback tour.

It marks the first time they have played together since they disbanded in 2004, and their first shows since they took to the stage at Edinburgh’s Liquid Room on December 4 of that year.

The tour kicked off at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom last night (September 25), and saw them revisit hits from throughout their discography, including ‘It’s Not Too Beautiful’ from their 1999 eponymous album as well as tracks from ‘The Three E.P.’s’, which was reissued earlier this year.

Check out footage from the gig, and the full setlist, below.

The Beta Band played:

‘Inner Meet Me’
‘She’s The One’
‘Push It Out’
‘It’s Not Too Beautiful’
‘Assessment’
‘Needles In My Eyes’
‘Dog’s Got A Bone’
‘I Know’
‘Human Being’
‘Dr. Baker’
‘Alleged’
‘Dry The Rain’
‘B + A’
‘Broke’
‘Squares’
‘The House Song’

The tour continues this month with stops in Leeds, Bristol and Nottingham, before they round off the UK shows with a stop at the Roundhouse in London and the Albert Hall in Manchester in October.

US tour dates commence towards the end of October and progress into November. You can find a full list of dates here, and visit here to buy tickets to UK dates and here for international tickets.

Formed in 1996 by Scottish musicians Steve Mason and Gordon Anderson, The Beta Band would go on to release three albums: 1999’s ‘The Beta Band’, 2001’s ‘Hot Shots II’ and 2004’s ‘Heroes To Zeros’.

Since the band’s split in 2004, Mason has gone on to release music with his own solo project King Biscuit Time. He has also released music with his newer projects Black Affair and Good Face. In 2010, Mason released his first LP under his name titled ‘Boys Outside’.

Mason’s other bandmates, Robin Jones, John Maclean and Gordon Anderson formed The Aliens and Richard Greentree has his own band named The General and Duchess Collins.

Earlier this year, they released a deluxe vinyl reissue of their classic ‘The Three E.P.s’. It was originally shared on Regal back in September 1998, and came as a collection of the band’s first three EPs. These were ‘Champion Versions’, ‘The Patty Patty Sound’ and ‘Los Amigos del Beta Bandidos’.
