Simon Cowell Loved His ‘Jennifer Hudson Show’ Spirit Walk: ‘I Wanted to Do It Twice’

Cowell’s walk through the show’s Spirit Tunnel went viral as users commented on how awkward he seemed, but he insists he enjoyed it so much that he wants to bring it to America’s Got Talent

The Spirit Tunnel is The Jennifer Hudson Show‘s signature segment. As guests make their way to the stage for their interview, they’re greeted with a hallway full of crew members cheering them on with a custom song. Clips from the tunnel typically go viral more than any actual footage from the conversation that follows on the show. The show’s latest guest, Simon Cowell, received the same treatment.

In his clip, Cowell walks through the hall while clapping along to the crew’s personalized remix of “The Greatest Show,” updated to include mentions of America’s Got Talent. The viral video has led to social media users speculating about the competition judge’s health and well-being, noting that his movements seemed awkward. It didn’t register this way to Cowell himself, who would have done it again just for fun.

“I absolutely loved it,” Cowell told Hudson when he finally made it to the couch. “It’s like the best way of coming on a show, seriously, I’ve ever done in my life. Do you mind if I steal it for AGT? It’s seriously brilliant. I wanted to do it twice. I might do it on the way back.” Hudson joked that he should break out a few dance moves for the second time around, but he assured her, “You don’t want to see that.”

Cowell appeared as the guest on the very first episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, which aired just over three years ago before the show introduced the Spirit Tunnel. “I was so thrilled and genuinely honored that you would think of me,” Cowell said. “And all these years now, you’re still killing it.”

Hudson’s most viral Spirit Tunnel moments have included Brenda Song, Gwen Stefani, Aaron Pierce, Shemar Moore, Keke Palmer, Chris Perfetti, Damon Wayans Sr. and Damon Wayans Jr., SZA, and more.
