Def Leppard Hits ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ as ‘AGT’ Eliminates Seven Contestants: Watch

It’s a long way from wannabes to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. On Tuesday night, Aug. 20, Def Leppard gave a glimpse of what it takes, when the British rock ‘n’ roll animals lit up the America’s Got Talent stage.

Joe Elliott and Co. are members of the Rock Hall class of 2019, a guitar-laden eighties juggernaut that are one of only five rock bands to earn RIAA Double Diamond status, for shifting ten million units of two or more original studio albums in the United States, doing so with 1983’s Pyromania and 1987’s Hysteria.

As the quarterfinals kicked off on this 20th season of AGT, the Sheffield, England-formed rockers flexed their guns with a performance of Hysteria single “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their spot on NBC’s competition served as a warmup for the Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency, which will open its doors at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace from Feb. 3-28 next year, the followup to Sin City residencies in 2019 and 2013.

When asked by AGT host Terry Crews to share some advice for the competition’s hopefuls, Elliott kept it short and sweet: “live your dream.”

For seven acts, that dream has hit a wall. Monday night’s quarterfinal votes were cast, America decided and four acts advanced.

The performers with the most votes were singer Jourdan Blue, dance troupe LightWire and dance duo Sirca Marea, all of whom push on to the semifinals. One performer was spared from voting altogether: Steve Ray Ladson, who got the Live Golden Buzzer from Sofia Vergara, allowing him march straight to the finals.

It’s the end of the journey, however, for Charity Lockhart, Shuler Kin, Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras, Loco Pop Familia, CitiLimitz, Phobias and B Unique Crew.

Jourdan Blue, LightWire and Sirca Marea will compete in the Top 12 on Tuesday, Sept. 16, with seven contestants (including the Golden Buzzer winner) going through to the AGT Final to compete for the $1 million grand prize.

The second night of quarterfinals will air live next Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Watch below as the first quarterfinal results were announced live.
