Listen to Deftones’ thunderous new single ‘milk of the madonna’

Deftones have shared an explosive new single called ‘milk of the madonna’. Check it out below.

The new song marks the latest track to be shared from their forthcoming album, ‘private music’, which will be released on August 22 via Reprise/Warner Records. You can pre-order/pre-save it here.

‘milk of the madonna’ comes on the heels of last month’s lead single ‘my mind is a mountain’, and captures an equally fiery feel. Thunderous guitar riffs are out in full force, along with belting drums and Chino Moreno’s classic impassioned vocals.

Bloody rain/ Floods these streets, came falling to the earth/ Run away/ A thunder hangs above me like an eye,” he sings in the opening verse, before reaching the euphoric chorus. “Holy ghost/ I’m on fire/ Holy spirit/ I’m on fire”.

Tune in below:

The upcoming album will mark the first full LP from the Sacramento band in five years, following on from 2020’s ‘Ohms’.

While rumours about a new album have been circling for the past two years, the only official hints about the release came during their huge headline show in London this summer, where they used their slot at Crystal Palace Park to reveal the album title.

Since then, they have also dropped the official music video for the lead single, and  announced a run of UK and European dates.

The shows kick off in Paris on January 29, before heading to Brussels, Hamburg, Munich, Lodz, Berlin, Dortmund, Stuttgart and Amsterdam. After that, Deftones come to the UK on February 12 with a show in Birmingham’s BP Pulse Live, followed by stops in Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and Cardiff.

They round off the tour with a huge show at London’s The O2 on February 20. Denzel Curry and Drug Church will be joining them as special guests, and tickets are available here.

Before those shows commence, Deftones will embark on their previously announced North American tour dates in Vancouver, joined by Phantogram, IDLES and The Barbarians Of California.
